This first set of four images shows the basic layout of views you’ll have of your design as you work on it and develop it. Here we’re looking at a small cargo vessel. I’ve chosen this, rather than a yacht or dinghy because the simple lines make it easier to show what I’m talking about with images of this small size. Top left is a perspective view. This can be rotated with your mouse to provide a view from any viewpoint you choose. Top right is a profile view, showing a side view of your vessel. Bottom left is called the bodyplan view and is essentially a view looking head on to the bow. Lastly a plan view, which is self-explanatory.

 

Naturally any changes you make to the design are reflected in all four views simultaneously and it is possible to switch on or off many of the visual tools that make this boat design software so easy to use. Here, I’ve switched on the wireframe view and control point viewer. I’ve also highlighted the transom bulkhead in green to make that visible too.

 

This is just one set of views you can get of your boat as you work on your boat design. The 57-page manual that comes with the software walks you through all the views and the ways you can create them.
